My name is Daniell Darnell Tate and I am The Black Michael Jackson Impersonator
(aka The Black MJ). I have a long history of imitating Michael Jackson starting
when I was around 7 or 8 years old after I saw Michael Jackson's Captain EO at
Disneyland and I showed my parents that I was able to do the Moonwalk outside of
the theater. My birthday is on August 29th -- which is the same as MJ's.
I began officially performing like the late King of Pop almost 3 years ago as a
joke for my girlfriend's stepfather's birthday party and everything else just
started falling into place after that. Lots of hard work, practice, sweat,
studying MJ videos, dedication, tailoring, criticism...and MORE hard work have
gone into starting this business and I love every bit of it.
I feel that I am blessed to have been given the talent to entertain others in
similar fashion as Michael, therefore I make it an absolute point to pay
attention to all the details as MJ did...my costumes, my dancing, and the
performance production. With dazzling outfits, electrifying and powerful dance
moves along with original and edited MJ music, you'll almost forget that you are
looking at an impersonator.
As many impersonators may physically try to LOOK like the late MJ, I believe it
is more important and essential I do what is necessary to dazzle audiences by
matching his dancing and energy on the stage and make people remember and honor
him for what he TRULY was...the greatest entertainer of our time.
